Frequently Asked Questions
Lessons are 30 or 60 minutes long. For younger students, I'd recommend taking 30 minute lessons.
Lessons cost $35 for 30 minutes or $70 for 60 minutes. Payment for lessons will be made by equalized monthly payments.
There is an annual $35 administration fee per student due at the first lesson. This fee helps cover the cost of printed materials, student binders, and hosting the winter and spring recitals.
Payment can be made by post-dated cheques (dated for the first of each month and made out to Robyn Ferreira) or by credit card charged on the first of each month (with a processing fee of 2.9%). Cheques for the entire year (September-June) or credit card information are due by the first lesson in September.
Yes, I do! Online lessons are taught via Zoom and require that the student have two devices (one for Zoom and one for music playback) as well as a strong internet connection.
In the event of illness or an emergency, lessons may be rescheduled if you notify me the night before or the morning of your scheduled lesson time. A maximum of two make-up lessons will be given during the year due to illness or emergencies. Absences for any other reasons will not be rescheduled.
If you arrive late, your lesson will still end at the scheduled time. The lesson will not be extended beyond the normal ending time or rescheduled to make up the lost time at a later date
If I am sick but still well enough to teach, lessons will be moved to an online format to ensure students remain healthy. If I am not well enough to teach online, students will receive an additional make-up lesson credit. You will receive notice as soon as possible by email and/or text.
I teach a variety of styles: pop, musical theatre, worship, and jazz. I encourage students to learn songs they love singing.
Yes, we have recitals in December and June. It's a great opportunity for you to show your family and friends what you've learned. Students will also receive professional photos and a video recording of their performance.
Lessons are taught from September-June with a winter break in December and one week off for Spring Break. When you sign up for lessons, you are signing up for the year (September-June).
If you want to give lessons a try or are prepping for an audition or performance, I'm happy to book you in for a few lessons as my schedule allows. I find that the most progress is made when you attend lessons regularly, but I'm able to give you some tips and technique before auditions or performances.
If you wish to no longer take lessons, I require one month's notice. Your post-dated cheques will be returned or your monthly credit card payments will be cancelled.
During unsafe weather conditions (snow, hail, etc) you have the option of having your lesson online via Zoom. I must be notified as soon as possible, so that instructions and links can be sent.
